Our Special Guest Speaker

We are excited to announce that this year’s guest speaker will be Rachel Raborn Norris of Joy Pottery in Bryan, Texas.

When the council began planning this year’s gathering and the discussion rolled around to possible guest speakers, several council members were quick to suggest Mrs. Norris, whom they  had the pleasure of seeing when the women of their mission district gathered.

Rachel Raborn Norris

“O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter has done? declares the Lord. Behold, like the clay in the potter’s hand, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel.”
‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭18‬:‭6‬ ‭ESV‬‬

In His Hands

Rachel Norris is not surprised that she is a potter, but she is amazed at how God has used pottery in her life. She has been making pottery for over twenty years now.  She and her husband own Joy Pottery in Bryan, Texas where they make and sell handmade, functional, stoneware.  She loves to work with clay because it is an incredibly versatile material, so very individual and universal at the same time.

You are invited to come and learn more about the Heavenly Father by exploring a word picture He provides in His Word.  Discover the richness of the layers of meaning in the portrayal of the potter and the clay by observing the work of a potter firsthand.  You will be awed and amazed by the insights into the hand of God in your own life through this experience.

Serve with the WNALC...

There are a multitude of ways you can serve the Women of the NALC, and we encourage you to get involved! Not only do we all have the GIFTS that God gave us, we also have  skills we have developed over our lifetimes. Whatever gifts and skills you have will be a blessing to all of us when you put them to use as a member of the the Women’s Council!

Serve on The Women's Council and help us with what we do!

Women are elected to the council for a two-year term and may run for a second term if they so choose. Members of the council have a brief planning meeting following the gathering to allow the new members and continuing members to get acquainted. During this time they also start planning the in-person planning retreat, which will be held as soon as convenient for all members. Council members meet virtually over Zoom each month. We also stay connected through group text messages and phone calls.

The only requirements for being on the council is that you are a team player and willing to use your gifts, talents and skills to support the WNALC.

Time Commitment: 5-10 hours/month

Or - serve on a ministry team and help us do more!

We are realistic…there is only so much seven women can do, and this is why we would like to grow our ministry teams. If you feel the desire to contribute but are concerned that life is currently too busy for a position on the council, consider volunteering to serve on one of our ministry teams.
